After living aboard for 1.5 years of fantastic family adventures through the Mediterranean, across the Atlantic and exploring the Caribbean it is time for us to return to land life and our jobs. We were very particular on the boat we took our children across an ocean on and have been very happy with our choice. Our main criteria was a strong seaworthy boat that was comfortable to live on for years and had reliable recent equipment. We have been completely through the boat during our ownership preparing and equipping her for our trip and maintaining her so that we would be happy to sail across oceans with our children. See extensive list in details below. She represents a bargain at her price point with this specification and is ready to go again. We are currently enjoying Grenada for the hurricane season. A great location to start your adventure with the easy sailing in the iconic Caribbean. We can help with delivery if needed. Boat is EU VAT paid so makes travel in Europe easier.

Four double cabins and two heads has been an ideal layout. Everyone including our guests have had plenty of space, even with four adults and four kids on board! Two heads are better than four as you get reasonable sized heads and half as many through hulls and plumbing issues.

Motors are recent enthusiastically sized Volvo 55hp with 1,500 hours and run like clockwork. We have not touched the extensive and expensive Volvo Penta OEM spares we bought other than routine maintenance. Motoring cruise speed on one engine is 6 knots at 1,700rpm using average 2.7 l/hr helped by her feathering J-Props. We have done 11.2 knots at wide open throttle with both engines! Great to have such reserves of efficient reliable power and their 115 Amp alternators.

She is set up to be self-sufficient with 600 litres of water and 360 litres diesel capacity. The solar panels will run the water maker, cover all loads including fridge and inverter and still be charging the batteries. It’s great seeing the amps going in on the digital battery monitor even when making water.

We love our boat and have been very happy with her. The forward cabins particularly are very spacious which is important when I am height challenged at 6’4” / 196cm! The coherent design of this boat has been much appreciated. Other boats have things like outboard helm stations which are fun for the first hour before you are baked in the tropical sun or blown off in the rain squall while you can’t see the other side of the boat in the tight reef anchorage. Our helm station is well sheltered with excellent visibility and communication with the rest of the boat, not an ejector seat several stories high. Her engines are behind a watertight bulkhead for safety and noise control. The bows are huge watertight compartments with massive storage volume for light gear. The 15hp outboard is lovely and quiet and efficient. And will get the dinghy on the plane with two adults, two kids and lots of shopping which is great when you want to anchor in the lovely bay but get provisions in the town a distance away or explore that snorkelling spot.

We bought the parachute sea anchor and drogue from Coppins Sea Anchors in New Zealand to give options if caught at sea by a storm the Iridium GO satellite communications was not able to route you around. Why all the way from New Zealand? Because they make them for the fishing fleet working the Southern Ocean and boisterous Tasman Sea.

I could rave on for ages about the boat, equipment and reasons behind the choices but if you have read this far it’s probably time to look at the pictures. :)

Sometimes the phrase ready to go needs to be taken with caution. This boat is extensively equipped with new and recent gear and ready to go on your adventure. Please see the equipment list and ages below and feel free to contact us through Catamaransite.com.
