S/V Captain Cheri is a New Caledonia based 1996 FP Venezia 42 SOLD!!
She will sail well in medium to moderate breeze and can be managed by a short-handed crew. Performance is good on all points of sail due to an efficient under body and sail plan. With decent wind you can expect speeds in the 9-11 knot range.
The wrap-around panoramic saloon windows are shaded and ventilated. The accommodations are 2 queen, 1 double cabin 2 head layout, and are comfortable and practical. She has the classic "galley up" and as you enter the saloon through sliding glass doors her galley is to port and includes a two-burner stove, double sink with a dish draing area and front-loading 12-volt fridge. In typical French fashion, the galley works well and has good counter space. The cockpit is a large, comfortable lounging area with dining table and can be completely enclosed.
This Venezia 42 is electric powered with the Asmo system and has a yanmar 35 HP generator. She is covered with 700 watts of solar panels. Silence , no smells , low diesel consumption and very handy to sail with his 2 electric motors always ready and and easy to use, electric main sail winch.. The boat is in excellent shape and always ready to go. The boat is based in Noumea working in charter business and can be delivered anywhere.
The the Asmo Electric propulsion system uses the state of the art THOOSA 9000 regeneration system which charges batteries while under sail. The system uses a permanent magnet motor, set up in a gearing console made in stainless steel and is regulated by a 4-quadrant motor controller.
Using regeneration, the motor is spun by the propeller and works as a generator and charges your battery bank while under sail. What is achieved through regeneration is supplemental, much as you would receive from wind or solar. Using the current battery bank, 5 knots for 1 hour is achieved using batteries only. For longer runs under power the boat is equipped with a diesel generator which will power the drive system to achieve 6 knots under genset power.
Regeneration under sails and solar electricity reduced the consumption of fuel more than 50% which give an impressive range when combined with her 300 litre (80 US gallons) fuel tank.
The boat is in good condition, and ready for long passages right now.
